keeping computer from hibernating

I have a desktop computer that has some really strange behavior in regard to hibernation. Since I am working on two computers, but primarily use my laptop, my desktop computer is inactive for periods of time. Sometimes after only 15 minutes the computer will automatically hibernate even though my power settings do not have a timeout period established. Can anyone suggest some kind of process that uses minimal system resources that I could have running in the background so that the computer would never be inactive?

go to start then control panel power options then go over to the tab hibernation or something like that

Just make sure you hit "apply" when you are done selecting your settings.

I have already enabled all of the correct settings for hibernation. Everything is set exactly how I need it, but it is still going into hibernation within a few minutes even if I have it set to be always on.

Do you have a UPS unit connected to your computer? Its management software could be telling your computer to hibernate erroneously.

Have you got a "APM" setting in the BIOS, if so you could disable hibernation there.

I will have to check on that. But, would that prevent me from hibernating my computer altogether? I still need hibernation, just at the right time.

Sorry I read in your first post
so that the computer would never be inactive
Unfortunately it's a complete switch off
But look on the bright side there may be an additional setting in their that needs changing :)
