I think this problem's been around for some time now; whenever files bigger than 2MB (or so it seems), the CPU usage will rocket to 100% until the xfer is complete and only THEN the "Save As" dialog box will appear allowing you to actually download the file.

Is this just a persistant bug or is there some workaround ive overlooked? :) It does *seem* to be the webfiltering module that's causing the problem... can anyone verify? :)
 
Don't know if this will help, but Sygate has a good personal free firewall, may want to check them out.

Yeah i know... i used it for a bit ... didnt like it much (both the interface and the nagging feeling in the back of my head that it was a bit flakey .. dunno whether it was or not but i didnt hang around to check). Thx for the suggestion though :)
