Kernel_Stack_Inpage_Error

Due to a previous problem I installed a new MOBO and repaired XP. Now, I often get a blue screen that says something about "Kernel_Stack_Inpage_Error" and to reinstall any new hardware/software. I've noticed I get this when I try to download 2 or more things at once or play a game. I had also tried to install a different vid card thinking it was the problem, but switched back to my other vid card.

The message is as follows:

quite a common problem it seems. just for kicks switch IDE cable to a new one and see if using diff RAM modules will work, or arrange the sticks in different banks. sometimes this causes this problem.

hi guys just a newbie to this forum hope you can help me out.

the problem started today went to do a scan with norton and the comp stopped working when i rebooted it came up with the follwing messages

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
System32\drivers\pci.sys
You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows set up using the original set up cd rom . select r on the first screenwhen I restart the comp as requested the following appears

Press r for standard system recovery
Press f to format drive and performfull system recovery
Press Q to quit


When I press r the screen goes blue with the cursor arrow appearing and sometimes a menu appears with icons for choosing
1.recovery type
2 hard disk prep
3 file copying
4 finalizing recovery
then it looks for something and reboots the comp back to
r
f
q
screen as above.
Having no joy with this I tried to start in safe mode the following screen options appeared

Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command prompt
Enable boot logging
Enable VGA mode
Last known good config
Directory service restore
Debugging mode
Disable automatic restar on system failure
Start windows normally
Reboot
Return to OS choices menu

When I choose start in safe mode the following options appears
Please select the operating system to start
1.microsoft windows XP home edition
2 microsoft windows recovery console

when choosing option 1 the following appears

BTW my system is an compaq presario with intel 4 -3.6 gh - 1024 ram -250gb hard drive hope this is not to much info

Do you have the Repair disk that comes with Compaqs or the real OEM Windows CD?

Thanks we do have the repair disc ,and it wont read it...we will be hopefully reformating it tomorrow ,
