Key Board stopped working on Laptop

After recharging my laptop and switcing back on the keyboard has stopped working. It is an Acer 4741G. I have plugged in a USB keyboard and that works! Have I or my 5 year old somehow disable it that can be easily rectified?:D

Does it work at all? Like, if the keys are backlit, do they light up? When the computer turns on, and it says hit F12 (or whatever key it is, sometimes its ESC, F8 or F10 or something else), can you hit that and have it work? Or do you know of any physical damage that has happened recently?

None to all of the above:

When booting up and I press F2 to enter setup nothing happens.
Keys are not back lit
So nothing works at all
No damage has been done to it, it is in pristine order.

I plug another USB K/B in and away it goes.

Any suggestions or is it just straight to the repair man?

If it were mine I would take the sucker apart and have a look. There are guides around that illustrate how. Here's one. Note the author's warnings at the start.

I had the same poblem with mine and it turned out that the fpc that connects the keyboard to the fpc worked its way lose so have a look under the keyboard and make sure the fpc is in proply

(Flexibul printed circit .... fpc)
