what device needs the driver? Be specific: model, name and number, type of component, etc

you shouldn't need to pay for it. we can prolly find it if you provide the info.

Don't bother with those crappy driver updating programs, they are a scam & worthless.

All you need to do is look up drivers for your hardware on google, from amd/nvidia/intel website, and so on.

either google your product or the part of the product if you have upgraded it or built it yourself, or use the device manager and tell it to update it and it will scan microsoft's servers for the newest driver it has, but it doesn't always have the newest so do the other first and use it as a last resort.

I wouldn't recommend using windows update soley because it will only update the driver itself. With AMD and Nvidia you'll want to do it via their sites because you'll get the latest catalyst/ncp version, crossfire/sli profiles, and physx updates. And you get to see release notes, performance improvements, etc.

actually here is a way to tell it to list the available updates and you can select it, i know i've done it b4 but don't use it often enough so i don't remember the way, think it's an option when you first tell it to update.

Which is why in the first post i mentioned the windows updating, i stated that it was the lesser of the two and a last resort, but using google/support pages for the product was the better option.
