Keyboard issue after reformat

Hi there everyone,
I recently reformatted my hard disk on mylap top. Once i'd done this i reinstalled the keyboard driver from the disk that my manufacturer had provided but now when i type some of the keys are in the wrong place. For example the " and @ have swapped and the pound sign has gone completely.

Can anyone suggest some solutions please?

I'm running windows media centre 2005 by the way.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Maybe you've chosen a wrong keyboard layout? I'm on Linux ATM so I can't check if this is how it went, but if I remember correctly you need to go to control panel->keyboards and go to the tab I think was called "layout", "language" or something along those lines...I think it was the last tab anyways. Then make sure it's...umm...UK? Whatever your laptop's k/b layout is, that is. If you can't find this in keyboard settings, try language/localization options...my brain's in really stuffy mood right now. If the correct layout is already chosen, then come back for more advice.

ah, someone who i mentioned this to suggested that my computer was being american rather than english so i just changed the language and life's fine! So stupid that something like that changes lots of stuff like keyboard layout. Thanks for the help anyway!
