Keyboard keys

I have recently re-installed my OS (xp) and after re-installing it my @ sign has been swapped with the " sign and i have also lost my pound sterling sign i was wondering whether my computer is now recognising my keyboard as an american keyboard but i wish to have it configured correctly (as an english keyboard).

Does anyone know how to fix this.
 
Go to Control Panel, Regional & Language Options, choose the languages tab, click details and then add a new keyboard and choose it to be an English Based one or you can just change the existing one.
