Keyboard/mouse crisis

I just bought a new (refubrished) Microsoft Desktop 1000 wirelss keyboard and mouse combo. Installed the software from the CD that came in the box and plugged in the USB reciever. It woked fine for around 10 min then it froze for 10 sec and the "F Lock" LED on the reciever blinked during those 10 sec. This has been happening with intervals of anywhere from 2 - 15 min. To test if the keyboard or mouse are broken i plugged the reciever into my old pentium 2... and it worked... no freezes and i ve running the pentium 2 for 2 hours... i ve searched google and found that other ppl also experince this problem where the keyboard mouse freezes and the LEDs on the reciever randomly blink... i thought that maybe this was an issue of Windows XP as my prntium 2 PC has Win 2003 installed, so I dug up the Win 2003 cd and installed it onto my computer... same problem with the freezes... what is going on? is this a driver issue? the microsoft website does not offer any driver updates just the new version of Intellipoint software (which i think is only used to show the battery charge and connection wuality of the mouse)... and y is the wirelss combo working with zero problems on my 6 year old pentium 2 while it refuses to work without freezing on my brand new computer? plz help


i just bought the computer a few weeks ago... except the wireless keyboard and mouse no problems... booted the first time after i built it and all drivers installed without problems .. specs:

Athlon 64 3800+ x2
MSI 6800GS 256 Mb PCI-E
512 X 2 Mb Dual Channel OCZ DDR 400 ram
 
if it came with the mouse and keybord socket adapter then try it with that. also try disabling the usb mouse keyboard suppport before doing this if it dont work a first off
