Keyboard not working the same after Win7 install

I have the Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard, which has media buttons like Play/Pause, Stop, FF, and Rewind. Previously, on my Windows XP install, I could use these buttons to control iTunes no matter what program had focus.

But after installing Windows 7, I've noticed that the buttons only work when iTunes has the focus. I installed the software from MS's website and didn't see any additional software or drivers to try. Anyone know how this could be fixed? This was one of the features I loved about the keyboard!

Thanks!

Is it usb? If so, try unplugging it and pluggin it back into a DIFFERENT usb port. Some usb ports are picky. Then, restart the pc. See if this changed anything

Happened to my usb mouse also. And a serial keyboard. It was actually a hardware problem, changing both fixed the problem

What kind of hardware problem? It has always worked previously, which leads me to think it's something to do with Windows 7.

1. The most common problem when faced with a non-working keyboard is an improper connection. Try reconnecting your keyboard, restart your computer and see if that fixes it.

Thanks, but it isn't exactly a "non-working" keyboard. It works fine in all cases except that specific case of using the media keys *outside* of iTunes. They work in iTunes, but not when another program has the focus. I tried unplugging and switching USB ports but that didn't do anything.
