something has messed up with my keyboard setup. this doesnt have anything to do with my keyboard, but something for the windows keyboard settings. the other day when i went to reformat i couldn't type numbers on my keyboard to write the cd key. instead it was doing the symbols. so i changed the layout to dvorak so i could write the numbers in. now my keyboard wont work with the right shift key, so that does numbers. and certain keys wont work, for example, the colon. please help me! thanks a lot.

Maybe the keyboard's left shift key is blocked. Have you tried what happens if you plug in another keyboard?

Lorand is proberbly right if u try another keyboard u will find out.
By the way is it a normal keyboard or a cordless, if its cordless it might be da batteries

yes, i've tried another keyboard. its the exact same, thats how i know its not a problem with my actual keyboard. what keyboard layout or setting or whatever do you use for just the normal keyboard, the us one? i dont know the name of it. and where do i go to change it to that?

this is really getting on my nerves! i cant explain how much.

btw.. its the right shift key thats not working, not the left.

omg I could have sworn I tried the other keyboard that belongs to the other computer of ours.

In fact, I know that I did try it.

The first time I tried it it was doing the same thing.. Now it works!! YES!!

Thanks a lot for the help guys, much appreciation :)

Hmm, someone said did I check to see if the keys were locked? How do you lock/unlock keys? Maybe they got locked, and then i wont have to buy a new keyboard.. thanks.

You could take apart the keyboard in pieces then put them back on. Usually after such an operation the keys will unlock...
