basically when i go to type '@' i have to pressed shift and the number to button (which looks like this - " ) And vice versa. Wots goin on its so annoying. Ive downloaded the driver for it but it still dont work

I'm not clear on what you said....but...

Yeah:confused: Thats how you get the @ sign..you press shift and 2...unless you had a special keyboard before, theres no other way.

ye sorry it is a bit confusing. Basically my @ sign is situated 2 keys right from the key L , right next to the enter key. But wen i press shift and that key i get ( " ) instead of the @ sign

Oooooh okay i see now....is this just random or something? Did it just happen out of the blue? if so..maybe its some kind of hardware problem meaning youd need a new keyboard if this is an issue....if it was after some kind of install, try a system restore to when it worked...if it was after a reformat..probably a driver error still...

Have you always needed to hit shift? what happens if you dont hit shift? Does the @ still come up? (Im assuming it doesnt but im just asking incase lol)

It's because that is the location of a traditional keyboard set-up. (with the " 2 keys right of the L) You can either leave it or get a keyboard mapping program, and change the location of those keys to match what you have on your keyboard.

Another question: is your single quote (') mark 2 keys to right of the L? And is your @ above the #2? If not, then I'd say that someone messed with the decals, because that is where they *should* be located. If I were you, I'd put the @ above the #2, and the " above the '. This is the way all other English keyboards are (at least the common ones, no need to get into Dvorak stuff...), and will be much easier on you in the future. :)

whenever my keys messup from me doing remote assistant on my laptop usually a system restore works like a charm although ur case seems a bit different but id give it a shot
