I have Kaspersky Security and a pop up from them said they have detected
a PDM Keylogger.What is a keylogger and how do i get rid of it,thank you.
 
Please follow these instructions so we can see whats on your system.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If for some reason Malwarebytes will not install or run please download and run Rkill.scr, Rkill.exe, or Rkill.com but DO NOT reboot the system and then try installing or running Malwarebytes. If Rkill (which is a black box) appears and then disappears right away or you get a message saying rkill is infected, keep trying to run rkill until it over powers the infection and temporarily kills it. Once a log appears on the screen, you can try running malwarebytes or downloading other programs.



Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log
 
Johnb35 mate i have downloaded Malwarebytes and run it but i cannot download HijackThis from the link you have put.Jonh mate i have no idea of what i am doing so please have patience with me.When i have the reports how do i put them on the forum.
 
Right click on the link for hijackthis and click on open in new window and then the download box will appear.

All you do is copy and paste the logs from notepad to a forum reply.
 
You do have logs that say malwarebytes and hijackthis correct? If you follow the instructions in my post its just a matter of highlighting all the text and click on copy and then go to your reply for the forum and click on paste.

The only entry that needs to be fixed is this one.

Rerun hijackthis and place a check next to that entry, close all browser windows and click on fix checked.

I looked this up on kaspersky website and it seems this is a false positive from the 2010 version. Did you install a new program lately? Most likely you will just have to add this program to the exclusion lists for Kaspersky.
 
Also, are you using Opendns? You have an entry in your log that refers to that. The server used is from San Franciso California USA

Dont uderstand what you mean,Opendns.The only servers i use are the game
servers or three sites i use this being one.
 
Someone that uses that computer, is using opendns.

Those nameservers belong to opendns. I wanted to make sure that entry is valid. Sometimes those ip addresses goes back to india, china, pakistan and other places.

Just rerun hijackthis and place a check next to this entry and then click on fix checked.
 
John done all that you have said and i thank you very much for your time.You have put my mind at rest it's nice to know that there are friends out there like you and i do regard you as a friend because of the good work you do for us on Computer Forum thank you again.:)
 
I'm curious about the OpenDNS - you either have to pay a small fee or it is ad-supported. In both cases I would have thought the user would be well aware of it being on the PC. I don't use it so I have no idea how obvious the ads would be if the free version is being used.
