Kinda new. I'm having problems with burning.

Ok, so the thing is that I have a DVD-R/ Memorex CD. I want to use it to record anime from my computer, because it's starting to occupy a lot of space. But when ever I insert the disk it never shows. N it keeps on on saying 'please insert a blank disc' Can someone help me? I'm completely lost.

I will really appreciate it!:)
 
your using a DVD-R DVD+R DVD RW disk Right? not cd! I know you said DVD-R but U also said Memorex CD so just checking sorry!
you do have a DVD burner? not just a cd burner or DVD Rom?
Win XP doesn't support drag and drop DVD burning so you will need a third party program such as nero!
The disk is empty, if you copyed files before and it didn't finishing initalizing/closing the disk then it would not be readable in the future.
finally if you recently bought the disk and they none of them are working after trouble shooting then return them as the batch may be bad!

these would be the most likley cause for your situation,
 
Nero 8 is good but I also like DeepBurner (currently got this on now and is not as friendly but pretty good). They have a FREE one too! It handles DVD-Rs fine.
