Kuma?

I know im a newbie to this forum but i hope you guys can help me out. Im going to be spending alot on this and i dont want to f*ck it up.

I want to get this proc: AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma and this motherboard to match it ASRock 780G

im upgrading from a p4 630 so i know nothing about AMD's, could someone tell me the main differences between intels proc's and amds procs? and also would this match work?

They'll be compatible, it's AM3 ready, and you *may* need to upgrade your BIOS (not a hard thing to do) to ensure compatibility. Looks to me like it'll be a good cheap solution though. My 7750 made it to 3.3ghz stable, 3.4ghz kind of stable, but I have mine at stock, with AMD Cool & Quiet enabled (so it goes to 1.35ghz from 2.7ghz when the power isn't needed) and it's sufficient for all my games and stuff (Half Life 2, various addons, team fortress 2, fallout 3, halo series, etc)

Sounds good, i just want to be sure i can play empire total war and my p4 630 is currently bottlenecking my HD 3850. So hopefully this will help. Also the mother board is 12 inches so im not sure if my case will support it.

Heres my case: Rosewill 5600 Will the mobo fit? how do i find out?

I had an 8650 for a while.. good cpu but the kuma is a black edition with L3 shared cache.. i get mine today for my wifes mid range gaming computer :D

Would this Cpu beat a kuma? Toliman

If you want a X3 instead and trying to keep the cost down, get one of these
AM2+ 8750 Black Edition

AM3 710 - 6 mbs of L3 and will run on AM3 boards with DDR3 memory.

The X3 has L3 cache too.

do programs actually utlize three cores?

Yes the 7750 would probably beat the 8650 in most games, but not much of a difference, but the 7750 has much better overclocking than the 8650, but i would go w/ the newer ddr3 cpus like StrangleHold, pasted, a lot better, perform great.:)

No the 9600 has a L3 bug, thatswhy they are selling so cheap. Any of the Phenom I with 00 at the end has the bug.
