L1 & L2 cache in CPU

I trying to replace my old CPU with a new one.
In terms of compatibility with my motherboard, what should I look for?
I overheard that the socket type and the Front Side Bus (FSB) is quite important, but how important is the L1 & L2 cache?

-Thanks

any brand new cpu that you buy will have them. you have to buy the same socket type as your mobo or else it will not fit. fsb is depends also on the memory that you are using. cpu may not use full fsb if combined with slow memory.

thanks for confirming the socket type and fsb for me!
My current mobo's summary says that it supports a socket A, and 128k L1 & 256k/64k L2 cache. Now I am going to buy a socket A CPU, but with 64K L1 & 512K L2 cache, will that cause any problems?

The best thing to do would be to find a motherboard that you do like, and check the compatibility of it with your cpu. This is usually listed somewhere on the manufacturers website.
