Hi, just to start, heres my system specs.
-Pentium 4 3.0 Gh/z
-Intel D915GAG motherboard
-Kingmax DDR 400 512 (x2)
-nVidia GeForce 7900GS 450M 256MB Pci-E DDR3 dual DTI tv
-450W generic startech.com Model:AP-450x
-nVidia Forceware 93.71 Directx C (latest version)
-Samsung SP0802n 80GB (7200 RPM)
Now to the problem, i use this computer for gaming, and when I'm playing battlefield 2142 (a pretty demanding game) i can only get 20-30 fps and its very frustrating, because i spent a decent amount of money on this system and i dont understand why im lagging like this. I have my video card set to High Performance, my ingame resolution and refresh rate are the same as desktop, i have antialiasing disabled, as well as anisotropic filtering, plus i have most of my ingame settings on low. Even on games like americas army I can get around 80fps but it drops frequently to 25-40. The only thing i can see thats wrong is maybe my motherboard? Also, if i have a CD in my CD drive somtimes I'll hear it get loud and make a weird noise and my computer lags horribly until i take the CD out. Could it be my CD drive? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
