I have Halo on PC and on Mac if I connect the PC and Mac together through ethernet to make a network can I play Halo through LAN?

I dont know, but you could always try it to find out. Wouldnt take much effort

well, the trouble is I gotta get a 20 meter cable to do so and if I don't know if it works it's not worth buying it...

I doubt you would be able to, since there on different OS's and are programes differently. How much does the cable cost?

Can gamers on the PC version of Halo play with Xbox gamers over XB Connect or some other method?
No, each version of Halo will only work with its own kind. Although you will be able to play with MAC players online. But not with XBOX players.
