if your using it on the laptop, then there should be no issue.
also assuming the disk is the same version of 7 that the laptop had from the factory. (you cant use a home premium key in ultimate and such).

If you use a standard Windows disk like what you can order from Newegg, then you CAN use the key on the bottom of the machine as long as it's the same version.
