Laptop as a second screen?

So I have an extra laptop that im using as a filesrver at the moment but I would really like to employ it as my photoshop and music production only computer and get those functions off of my main pc. So is it possible to use my laptop screen as a second screen to my main computer? And that way I could access the files through our network like I do currently?

The multi-display sticky says so, specifically this,

MaxiVista is a program that can use other computers as a secondary monitor for the primary computer. This is useful if you want to use, for example, a laptop’s screen as a secondary display for a PC. All is needed is a LAN connection. Great way to test out multi-display (you could use the trial version) with a laptop before buying another monitor for your PC!
