Laptop Battery use

I just bought a Dell Latitude D820. Does it hurt the laptop for me to keep it plugged in with the battery still in it?
 
what, u want to take the battery out every time u switch it off?
or do u mean plugged to electricity?

I keep my one plugged to electricity all the time...strange...omg...right now I smell burning...**** its overheating...shit it really is

I alternte during the day. I use it and so does my husband. When I use it I keep it plugged to electricity. When my husband uses it, he takes it to a different room and it is running on battery. So....it may have about 30 minutes to an hour on battery and then I get it and plug it in. Does that hurt the life of the battery?
 
In the past it would have hurt the battery, where the battery would have to be completely drained before a recharge. But the newer laptops and batteries can be charged whenever, without significantly effecting battery life.

So no, its not a problem.
