Laptop Battry life... SHort?

My newest laptop is now just over 1year old which i bought from dell. At the most, my battery lasts just over an hour if i'm lucky.

I'm just wondering if the newest, latest laptop's last longer, and how long?

When buying a laptop with good battery life, what are the functions and features to look out for? Im guessing less powerful laptops would be better with battery life as they are not sucking out so much battery life?

you got that right, the laptops with the less power hungry stuff will allow the battery to last longer :)

there is no "set" limit, all laptops have different battery life lengths, some research is required :)

the laptop in my sig currently gives me about 2hrs battery life, but as you can see it was more end-range when i bought it so therefore it is more power hungry.
 
I've heard of people getting less than an hour using my laptop(Averatec 3270) However, with some tweaking, I've gotten about 3 hours out of it!

It really depends on the hardware, and how it's used. If you have many processes running, a high screen brightness, etc etc...the battery will die very quickly.
 
theyre comming out with these nuclear cell laptop batteries (in the future) that can supposedly last up to 9 hours, but im not looking to see those till maybe 4 or 5 years.

one thing you can do is, i read this in Laptop Magazine, when you're not using your battery, place it in the freezer, it slows down the molecules so it lives longer, but i dont think its a good idea, becuase you'll always need your battery, and you wont want to be placing it in there everytime your not using it
 
centrinos lasts the longest. Ive got acer, and im lucky to have this software (acer epower managment) where u can manualy control the cpu speed on battery life. My one lasts 2 h on games. im satisfied
