Laptop compatability

I've got an Advent 7014,
When trying to play older games like black and white or shogun total war my laptop doesn't run it.
I've been talking to the muppets at EA customer Support, and the mongs at Soldout. Their remedy is to update drivers, Like I didn't think of that.
The end result was that they said that my Laptop cannot run them games because of the toning down of laptop chipsets. They also tried saying that the games were made before XP was introduced, so they are not compatible with it.
After advising them that it states no-where on any packaging that the games will not run on laptops, and after advising them that the packaging says it will work on XP. They apologised and said they couldn't help.
Is there any kind of emulator I can run to make the game think I have the specs it needs? (It thinks I have a -560 processer, when I have a PIV 2.8)

That link is just for B&W, I got angry with that and introduced it to my heel. Shogun total war: Warlord Edition, is what I'm trying to get to work at the moment. I have run out of ideas to try to get it to work. I've tried:

Turning off or toning down every aspect of my graphics card/resolution etc
Running in diagnostic mode
Windowing it
Running in every different compatability mode.
Installing all patches
Uninstalling/reg cleaning/re-instaling
Checking error logs - No errors in any logs.

I'm stumped. I am not going to bin the game, I'll still be trying to get it to work when I'm old and grey.

Well, it could be that the game is just too old. Have you tried running it on another machine?
