Laptop CPU Operating Too Hot???

Hello,
I am using PC Wizard 2005 to monitor the temperature of the CPU in my laptop. When I play games like Madden2006, it shows the CPU as operating at 81degrees celcius.
Is this too hot for my CPU to be operating at constantly?

Here are the specs of my laptop (probably more info. than you need):

81 degrees celsius is pretty hot! i dont like my lappy's cpu getting over 60. most times, its around 48. it only gets to 60 if i am encoding a divx or something

you might want to install speedfan or something to monitor your cpu temp constantly. also you can look up specs for your particular cpu and check its operating temp range.

i know for my desktop, it can operate up to 90 degrees c, but of course, the hotter it gets, the worse it gets. . .

Well, it runs around 56 degrees celcius all the time, even when I'm doing small things like word documents. I already have the back of my laptop propped-up about 1.5inches.
I tried the Speedfan program before but it showed all the temps at 102 celcius and my CPU activity level at 0.6%

Thanks again!

I was thinking about buying a cooling pad...
I'm doing no overclocking, this laptop has always ran this hot since I bought it (brand new) -- June 2005. I've also left it on for up to 2 days at a time, luckily with no problems SO FAR. But I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed...

the max temps for an athlon 64 is about 70-75C, if its at 81C, it may burn out before you get alot of use out of it.

what make is it?

Speed Fan 4.25 tells me:
CPU Diode: 102C
Temp2-7: 102C
Temp1: 57C

Mother Board Monitor 5 was not compatible with my system...

I don't really know of any other programs.

102 C !?!? thats 215 F !!! u have a very bad cooling issue with ur comp, but that reading has to be wrong. at those temperatures, plastic would be melting and u would have some real probs on ur hand. cant be accurate.

I just don't understand.......

When I installed Mother Board Monitor 5 it made me do some things to see if was compatible with my PC. Here is what is told me about sensors:

------Sensor Chip-------

Main Sensor Chip : None
SMB Address : $8100
Used Bus : SMB CHIP VIA VT8235
Chip Address : $2F

Maybe I don't have the appropriate sensor chip, so the software programs are getting weird and wrong readings??? Just a guess.........

Your on die thermal diode is probably faulty. At 100C, water boils. Whether or not your notebook is overheating, I'd call tech support and try to send it back to get fixed or replaced. You never know what else could go wrong.
