Laptop CPU Upgrade!

I'm going to being upgrading the CPU in an ASUS laptop!

Right now the laptop has an Intel T9400 2.53Ghz Dual Core chip and I'm looking to install a QUAD. So far I can only find a Q9000 at Newegg and I'm wondering where else sells mobile quads--45nm and Socket P..and also other options better than a Q9000!

Thanx

I would be careful about changing processors as the laptop might not be able to dissipate the heat added by the quadcore. You might want to confer with asus first.

45W vs 35W

Shouldn't be too bad, but that's still quite a bit more heat. Adding a really good thermal compound could help make up for it, and maybe replacing the fans with better ones if possible.

The G-series model in question did come with a quad option--thats the only thing that got my thinking it was a safe upgrade..but I wonder now what actual difference there might be inside!?!?

I have some new compound to use!! I wonder where I might acquire a new/better fan!?

The laptop is about 1 year old now and has a fairly large fan/heatsink currently inside..

I wonder if using compound on the copper piping from CPU plate to fan/heatsink would also help?

any other ideas or thoughts guys!?!? thanks!!:)

-> I'm not trying to be rude or something, but I don't think that even your ASUS laptop that has a new/better fan, large fan/heatsink inside and using compound on the copper piping from CPU plate to fan/heatsink can outstand the heat of the Quad Core processor. There is no harm in trying but this can be a great risk on upgrading the processor from Dual Core to Quad Core. As what johnb35 says, you must first consult this with ASUS.

Thanks,
