I'm buying a laptop, don't know brand yet, priced under $800.

I will use to get on web, check email, some office work, to run Delta Cadd, and to play world radio through it.

Meeting the requirements is there a difference between getting and AMD or Intel CPU. Back when I worked I liked AMD but the grandkids all say Intel.

Computer will be 17", with a DVD/cd r/w drive installed, good wifi so can access printer and modem wirelessly. This is to go in the shop where I play at wood working.

Honestly, I would just get whatever is cheapest that fits the bill. I can't imagine, that with those low-maintenance tasks, that it would really make any difference which brand of CPU you get.

None of those use cases are very resource intensive.

Therefore, theoretically anything new should really work. Just watch out for systems with cheap associated components like slow RAM or low end HDDs. For that price range you could get a decent i5 + SSD and be done with it. Things like wifi automatically come with any laptop.
