Laptop crash..need help restoring

I have a Dell 610 that crashed. I don't have the software came with it. I have a Dell Optiplex 330 desktop and I loaded the XP software that came with on my laptop. Can this work? Can I download the driver off Dell webiste or can I use the driver disk for my 330. Thanks for any advice

Just use an copy of Windows XP to do a clean install. Use the key code off the bottom of the laptop, download the drivers off dells support site and you should be fine.

Doing so you might stuck at startup with BSOD. But still, you can try it whether it work or not.
