Laptop crashes when not in safe mode

My Toshiba Satellite running XP started crashing (black screen) recently after an average of about 10 minutes from boot. No problems if running in safe mode. I reformatted my hard drive and reloaded XP thinking that I had a corrupt Windows file causing the problem......BUT, the problem still exists. Right now, I have not loaded anything else except Windows on the machine and it's going to black screen after running a few minutes. Any suggestions on what might be causing this?
 
Some reason this makes me think thats it a video card issue. Safe mode loads a generic driver for video and thats why it works. Is it possible the resolution is too high or refresh rate is wrong and thats why you get the black screen in regular mode?
