laptop dead screens

have amilo pro laptop with dead screen but otherwise appears to be working,plugged into external screen and that dead too, tried various boot discs including hd repair disc which brought screens to life, entered bios, and that froze,switched on off several times still no life in screens,boot disc didnt work second time,,checked external screen on other laptop all ok. help please, it appears a mobo part fail anyone know how i can check this without a screen, many thanks
 
might be the inverter, have had this trouble a bit with lattatude E5500's , replacing the inverter did the trick, but needed a tech to come from dell
 
If the inverter was bad, only the backlight would be out. The screen would look off, but if you look very closely you should still be able to see the image.

The fact that you can't output to an external display indicates that the computer isn't outputting any video at all, which means that the screen is probably fine. In this case you'd be looking at either a motherboard or RAM problem.

Also, a bit of a long shot, but try turning it on with the hard drive removed.
