Laptop Display Issue

Hello!

I have a Dell M5030 that had its motherboard recently replaced by Dell. 6 weeks later the display gets fuzzy on boot up and garbled with horizontal lines the full screen in different colours. After being on for a while it evens out to a visible display that is jumpy like it is struggling to consistently display the image.

Dell Tools did not ndicated that any problems existed with the Graphics Card. Which is an ATI RADEON HD 4250

I have included two links to my vids demonstrating my issue.
Regular start up: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2slymwfxb7iu3of/00048.MTS
Safe mode: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gcvuuqhibxytab2/00049.MTS

I have tested the unit to an external monitor; a test which it passed. Crystal clear display without any issues. So, that leads me to believe that the graphics card is working fine.

So my question is: does this indicate a failing LCD screen. I've never seen one fail in this manner.
I have only experiences low light or black screens due to inverter issues, or a broken screen.

I plan to replace the video cable, and if symptoms persist replace the LCD screen.

Am I on the right track?

Thanks to all!

You are very much on the right track and have done everything correct so far as trouble shooting goes.

It may not even be a case of the screen going out. As they replaced the motherboard it is possible that they did not hook the screen back up properly so you may have a slightly loose cable that is causing what you are seeing instead of a faulty component.

As everything works properly on another display the GPU is more than likely fine, so the only other suspect, should everything be hooked up correctly, is the display itself as you suggested
