Laptop Display, Replace or Upgrade?

Hello,
I was just curious and couldn't find anyone to ask this question to locally in my town since they couldn't answer me, so I thought I would ask here since everyone seems nice and knowledgeable! :D

I have recently (accidentally of course) broken the glass on the LCD display of my HP TouchSmart tm2 laptop and I have been looking into getting a replacement for said display. I noticed though, that there are practically no displays available or in stock for the model laptop I have if I try and search for the exact same one, but I can find displays for another HP TouchSmart laptop, from the tx2 series instead of the tm2.

At a quick glance, I can easily say that the two models aren't that different, however I am worried that if I buy this "newer" and "better" display, that it won't work and I'll have run myself out of 250$ for nothing.

Does anyone know if this upgrade to a slightly better display would also work, or if it's something I can try or if it's safer or just better overall to stick to the same model?

Any advice would be great. Thanks! :)

If you're staying in Klang Valley, try LowYat Plaza as there are many pc repair shops there. Recently the same thing happened to my IBM ThinkPad T61. To have it replaced by Lenovo it'll cost me above RM1000 but in LYP it can be done around RM500 only. In the end, I decided to turn it into a desktop pc and buy two Samsung 18.5" LED monitors to connect to it - one via its VGA port and another via USB port connected with an external video adapter (cost RM280) between the monitor and the laptop. Now I have much much bigger desktop real estate.:)
