I just got a new laptop, refurbished dell c400, PIII,

The computer seems to run well, but when it comes out of hibernation it moves EXTREMELY slow, honestly unusable.

Restarting the computer fixes the problem. The computer has had a fresh reformat, and has no problems besides when it comes out of hibernation.

Any ideas?

40 gig hard drive,
1.44 ghz pentium mobile III
768 ram
xp sp2, up to date

that is all I know, I am not sure how to check hardware, or any other specs.

Should be rather fast. I can tell you that it will be slow if you had (example):

2 internet browsers
Email (outlook or other)
Word
Music

Its gonna be slow as it has to save alll that to the HD and reload. Standby stores the stuff in the memory, so its faster.

true. if you had a couple "heavy" programs running, it would definitely lug the CPU. is it slower at some times than others?

it seams to be the same speed for anything that I have been running...

It handles firefox and windows media player 11 fine. That is probably the heaviest load the computer will see. (i bought the computer as a media center for my entertainment system). It will be either networked to my desktop, or accessing media through an external hd.

The only time it lags is after it comes out of hibernation.

I have found it to work fine if I close the screen to put it into standby/hibernation. But if it enters standby/hibernation with the laptop open.... that is when I have problems with the computer when I try to take it out of hibernation/standby.
