Laptop dosn't turn on

I have got a Acer TravalMate 3201xmi, and about a week ago I turned it off normally then the next day it wouldn't turn on!
Does anyone know why this has happened?
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
 
I assume that's a new laptop? Doesn't work with AC either? Any lights(when plugged up, or flash when you try and power it) And yes, how's the battery :P
 
The addaptor makes the laptop work? Or have you checked that voltages are actually comming though the plug? It sounds like you might have a dead mobo here, but we can't jump to any conclusions yet.
 
try a different outlet. sometimes if u pull too much current for a long period of time the fuse might blow in your house. i've had that happen and i thought my ac adapter was dead.

good thinking but probably is your fuse blew, or tripped out, then all sockets on that ring would go out. Which you would probably notice pretty quick.

You can test if you adapter is working quick by... and i'm not joking... sticking your tounge on it. You'll get 9ish volts through you toungue, which will give you an intenese tingling sensation. Just ram your tongue in there. Or :D of cource you could just use a multimeter if you have one lying around.
 
the adapter works (very tingley tounge) and the plug works, as i used my ps2 on the same plug.

I assume since this question has been here a while you may have done this, but if you havent, try starting the computer with only the battery, without the ac adapter plugged in. Than try it with the ac adapter, and without the battery. Also, when booting, try holding the power button down a little longer than usual.
 
Hmmm, Acer you say. They should have a tech support line, and maybe still be under warranty? Can't think of much else but checking in with them. Good luck

thanks for all the help, my laptop now works (i'm typing on it now). it turns out that the battery didn't work.
