Laptop drive

Hi! I have a laptop that just went dead yesterday but the hard drive is still working fine. This HD has XP installed and 5 disk partitions. I would like to know if, buying an external enclosure with USB connection, it would be possible to recover the data in that disk.
 
i dont know about doing it that way, but i think off of ebay you can buy adaptors that allow it to connect to the IDE(?) slots inside the computer...
 
I don't want to connect it inside the computer. I want to connect it externally because I am buying a new laptop and I wanted to recover my data from that disk to the new computer.
 
Yes. They do make external enclosures for laptop hard drives, and you should be able to recover the data, given the hard drive is still fine.
