i am purchasing a hp laptop (r4000) i want xp pro of which i already own a copy.
It is only $75 more to upgrade pro thru hp
so the question is would if i upgrade with hp is going to come with all the xtra programs?
and if i decide to reformat and upgrade out of the box how hard would it be to install the drivers from the system recovery disc?

It'll be easy, but if I was you, I'd just download the latest drivers on their website, save it on a CD or thumbdrive and then do a clean install of WinXP Pro.

Yes, best thing to do would be to either A. Save the drivers from the previous install (in System32 or System I believe [the dll files but I'd save the whole folder]) and just point it to that folder when you are re-installing or B. just download them from HP's site.

you should be able to get all the drivers from the website. my dell laptops came with a partition full of software which i reformatted.
