Laptop dual core running at 100% with no apps running

Ah so im running linux on my laptop here with a AMD 64 Athlon X2.

Both processors are running at 100%! and i only have 2 processes running. Firefox and the system monitor.

My computer is runnign extremely slow and its cause of the CPU's way high. shes not to hot as it sits up on a box for good air flow and such.

So whats going on?

Have you run any scans for malicious programs? When you look at the processes, does it account for the 2 cores being at 100%? If not, then there is probably some virus/malware on your computer chewing up all the resources...

Go into the processes tab on the system monitor and see what process is taking up all of your CPU.
