Laptop DVD Drive Problem

Hi, I have a Compaq Presario V6000, and for 7 Months it's been working great, but recently I have found that when I put a disc into the CD/DVD drive, it won't work, these discs have worked before on my laptop, but now they don't, also, when I want to eject the disc, pressing the button won't work.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Sounds like a bad drive. It's not all that uncommon. I guess all disks do this, not just a specific one?

Yes, all discs, so would it be possible to get a new one and install it?

Yeah, but contact Compaq first. It should still be under warranty... I mean unless you'd rather spend money on this

Well, I would contact Compaq, but I bought it in the United States, but I'm in England, so I don't think that would work, but if i were too just replace it, would that be possible?

My laptop stopped reading dvd's one day. I contacted the manufacturer and it took me a very long time to actually sort it out. In the end I just gave up and bought a desktop. Because my laptop was getting quite old.

In short, I wouldnt bother trying to claim warranty. Just find out about new ones
