Laptop DVD reader region? please help

Hi

I'm ordering a new laptop from dell in the states, becuase my sister lives there and can get a good discount price! It has a 8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability. Will i be able to play region 2 (uk) DVDS on it?

I don't know about that particular computer, but my optical drives have a feature where the region can be changed up to 4 more times.
Device Manager -> CD/DVD Drives -> right-click the optical drive desired -> Properties -> DVD Region tab
 
i think if you put a region 2 dvd in it will play but after 5 playes it will lock the dvd player to that region
 
the best thing to do is just download the anydvd program as you get a 21 day free trial, then when the 21 days is up just re-install it.

or just install it whenever you want to watch a differant region dvd than what your dive is set to
