Laptop for gaming

Well I am looking to buy a laptop in the next 2 weeks. It will be used a little for work and some minor gaming. I don't play any of the first person shooter types, mostly Civ 4, perhaps MTotalWar2 and when they come out Gods and Heroes and Age of Conan. I am looking to drop around $1200-1400. I have been reading the forums for a few days now but haven't come to any conclusions. Any suggestions as to which manufacturers to look at would be very helpful, my knowledge is rather limited.

Thanks in advance!!

Note: would like 2G RAM, not sure if I want a 256-512 vid card of good quality.

Also, if it comes with a bunch of junk software, say like a Dell comp, how do you get rid of all the worthless junk?

Get a Dell e1705
notebookforums.com has coupons listed, Save 20% on Select Inspiron purchases of $999 or above - Coupon code: 9J8GXZ1S0RXMB? - expiring being the best get the geforce 7900gs and 1gb ram and you will rock games

Alienware on average charge a premium for low-er end systems and the bigger better ones are more or less on target as far as price goes.... the 7900gs is the GPU in that price bracket or the x1600/x1400 which both stink

The Asus G1 is always an option. its a 15.4 inch screen, with 2gb of RAM, and a go7700 (best card for that screen size). a 160gb 5400 RPM hard drive. I am looking really hard at this notbook. It seems to bring power, and portability in all the right places, maybe its worth a look?

It might be a little out of your price range though now that I look at it.
