Laptop for school

Apathetic

So Im going to school and I would like a laptop with all the basic capabilties (easy) but also to be able to handle games. I'll probably jump on D3 when it comes out? Maybe some MW2 and CS:S, Portal 2? I had 2 laptops in mind, but feel free to show me anything else. Price range, I wont go higher than 1200. Preferably 1100. Anyways, jumping right into it.

ASUS

Macbook Pro
http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MC374LL/A?mco=MTc0Njg1ODA (I get a student discount 100 off)

So please, tell me which computer will run better and more efficiently overall and during games.

Out of the 2 I'd have to say the Asus blows the Macbook pro out of the water in terms of games and performance; out of the 2 you listed I would go with that.

Notebookcheck should give you an idea on notebook gpu performance.

Hey fantastic, thank you. Also, does anyone else have any recommendations? Maybe should I get a netbook?

It all depends on personal prefrences, gaming laptops are nice but any desktop can be made online or purchased with the same/more powerful configurations much more cheaply; although I don't know if your professors would be happy with a student dragging around a computer tower/monitor with a couple of cables running across the room:D.

If you're a hardcore gamer I'd recommend getting a netbook for school and save up a little later for a cheap gaming desktop, however if you are like me and are about gaming on the go such as in the campus center/hotels/in a lame professor lecture/beer pong contest, a nice gaming laptop would be a major convenience to have.

Go for Asus.
Get A1 instead of X1
Check google product, there are other shop with cheap price.

BTW, Here is some other choice

Lenovo Y560 have very similar spec
