Laptop Freezing

Hi...I have a Acer Travelmate 2310 and I am having a problem with it freezing. The only time it freezes is when I am typing somewheres. Examples are, this thread, word, excel, email, a search text box on the internet like, google or yahoo. It only seems to be when I am typing. It will freeze for about 10 seconds and the cursor will turn to a hour glass and in the title bar of the program I am in, it will say not responding but after 10 seconds or so it will allow me to keep typing and the not responding will go away. I have scanned my computer for spyware, viruses, etc...using may differnt programs but nothing shows up. Also, it seems when it does the freezing my high speed modem seems to be transmitting something. I have done a check to see all my outgoing/incomming connections and everything seems normal. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Tks,

might be spyware clogging your processor and RAM...

do you have any anti-spyware program? if not AVG Anti-Spyware is pretty good or Spyware Terminator.

after that clean up your registry using CCleaner.

you will notice some improvement....... hopefully... :D

Tks, for your reply. I have scanned my computer for spyware and viruses many times using my programs. Nothing seems to be showing up.

have you tried using the CCleaner?

first time i tried it, it removed about 2 GB of rubbish... my laptop work faster now

Yes, I have tried this program along with registry mechanic, spybot, adaware, regdoctor, avg, norton, aliant security services.

i just re-read your first post and noticed you said that the modem is transmitting something when this happens. This might seem like a stupid question, but at that time you are not downloading something at the background right?

What anti-virus program you use? It might be hogging your resources.

im not sure whether you have tried this but try typing when you are not connected to the internet and check whether it still happens.

There isn't anything downloading in the background when this happens and I tried unhooking my internet connection and it doesn't seem to do it when it is unplugged. I wonder what could be causing it? I have tried avg and norton and aliant security services but right now I do not have any antivirius installed. It has to be something with the internet connection because it hasn't done it yet and I have had it unhooked the whole time I have been typing this message. Usually it would have done it 2 times by now.

OK, now that we have confirm that your internet connection is the problem, it seems that there are outside sources that is trying get access to your comp.

You said that you do not have any Anti-virus installed. Did the same thing happened while you don't have the Anti-virus? The reason im asking this because it might be possible that your anti-virus program is updating their virus definition database or they are running a scheduled program at the beckground (hidden from you).

btw, do you have any firewall installed?

The same thing happens if I have the anit-virus on or off. It doesn't make a difference. Also, I don't have a firewall on this computer. This is my play laptop so I don't use one. It doesn't really matter to me if I have intruders or not, actually it's rather fun to have them.

Since you don't have any issues when the internet is unhooked, and your network card is inactive, you might have driver issues. Update your network adapter drivers.
