laptop fried

my friends sony vaio from three years ago is fried and i can not figure out what happened to it. the only thing that turns on are the fans, no bios boot up or anything. im thinking it is just an old computer and its no good anymore... but he told me that he left on top of a microwave for a week when he was at the beach. i was curious if the microwave could have any kind of effect on the laptop.
 
I think it is both, it is probably an old computer and also by leaving it on his microwave it probably did something to it.
 
Im not saying they do come out as I dont know ANYTHING about microwaves. :P Its just one possibility. :S But dont count on it, lol.

dont microwaves work by radiation? im pretty sure they use radiation to heat up food, theyre like an extreme source of it, thats why you shouldnt watch your food warm up. but i doubt it did anything to the laptop, it just got really old by sitting there. thats what happened to my laptop. if its too old and you dont use it regularly, itll stop working. but if you wait a month, itll turn back on. thats what happened to mine. but i dont think its worth it, he should just get a new one.
 
yeah but microwaves are a weak form of radiation, i think that it is probably time for a new one, and that was a coincidence, though it could be somethign to do with the motherboard or ps so it might be worth fixing
