Laptop goes off when knocked

Hi. My friends Fujitsu Amilio Li1705 has a problem.

When the computer is running. If it should be lightly tapped or knocked on the left hand side near the Caps Lock or CTRL key, it goes off instantly. I'm ok at fixing computers and just wondered if anyone had any suggestions as to where to look first when I open it up.

i would continue to tap and pin point what exactly is shorting out... after you take the case off that is. is the power plug on that end where you tap?
 
Loose battery, maybe? I had a Gateway laptop that had a loose power jack - died everytime I pressed the enter key. Re-soldered a new jack for about £5/$8 off ebay, and it was fine again.
 
hmmm see if you can find a diagram of that laptop or just take it apart if thats your thing and see whats around that... maybe its a ram slot that is shorting out... or maybe the processor is near there. there has to be something around that area that causes this.
