Laptop Hard drive space

Heey.
I just got a new laptop, but it only has an 18 gb hard drive. I don't really want to plug it up with too many programs and files, but my desktop is almost inactive and I need to save my iTunes music on my laptop.
I am currently using 3 gb worth of space on my hard drive, if I tranfer my 14 gb worth of music to this laptop, there will only be 1 spare gb worth of space.
What effect will this have on my laptop? Will it browse the internet slower? Will it freeze up more often?

I'd really appreciate any information given to me with this. Thanks, Will

1 gig of space is pretty small. It won't crash or be unstable, and if you defragment it, and don't run so many programs at once that it triest to use virtual memory, it will run decent. You will probably have to empty your temporary internet files, and other temp files pretty often. If all you plan on doing is very simple tasks, and listening to music, it will work, but try to do too much, and you will quickly fill up that last gig, and things will get really slow and annoying.
