Laptop HDD sizes.

Do all laptops (say... 2000 onwards) use the 2.5" HDD, or are there some that use the 3.5" hdd??
I know that I should know this, but i prefer not to assume anything, and prefer to ask, rather than search the web, as just about anyone can post on the web.

All laptops use the 2.5" drive. Laptops are too small to fit the standard desktop drive(3.5")

So... Are there any 10K RPM 2.5" SATA drives??
I am looking to replace my 7200RPM SATA drive to get some more responsive data fetching rates from the HDD. I know the SSD's are way faster, but I don't want to spend that much for less space.

I do not mind spending the money, as long as I can get the capacity that HDDs have over the SSD. I want to stay near 1TB but get faster than the 7200RPM that I have. I will not be able to get the TB sized drive with a SSD, without being near 1k USD.
