Laptop is running really hot lately and I was ripping music to my wmp and that was it and my computer cpu was running at 100% usage which I have never seen before. I believe thats the cause of the heating issue but whats causing the cpu usage to go crazy like that? Thanks for any help.

Just ripping music to your WMP shouldn't cause that much of a spike in CPU usage. Try doing a CTRL>ALT>DELETE and see what programs are running and their processes. You most likely have useless processes running that are bogging down your system.

Uninstall some unwanted programs and perform a disk cleanup. It is also advisable to upgrade your cooling system if you're into long time usage of your laptop. Hope this could help :)

It's nothing that has to do with programs running from when the computer is turn on because right now my computer is bouncing between 2-4%, When I ran wmp or nero last night it would run at 100%. I already did a disc clean up and a defrag this last weekend. How do you upgrade the cooling system in your laptop?

How do you upgrade the cooling system in your laptop?

You can buy a product that it sits on. This has fans in it. Not sure what their called, but it just improves airflow into the laptop.

If you use your laptop on your lap or bed the airflow will be restricted anyway. If its running hot try and use it on a flat surface as air gets sucked in the bottom and ejected out the side.

Hope that helps, Doug.

I appreciate that but my laptop sits on a cooling pad but I'm still trying to figure why my cpu is going crazy.

Re

Hey it could be a virus or a spyware , especially spyware they run backround proceses that make ur CPU run at max speed. I had the same prob on my old Notebook but a quick scan with Spyware Doctor and Kaspersky everthing back to normal.

Regards Tont:)
