Hi. I have a Compaq Evo N115. I know this isnt the best laptop but its not working right now.

I tried reinstalling windows XP on it and i think the battery died(thought it was plugged in to the wall) and now when i run it(even with the XP CD) it runs the Compaq screen and then goes to a black screen that says "NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" everytime i do that it just goes back to the same thing...

Can anyone help me? Im about to start college and this would really help to have a laptop..

Thanks

idk..i have it in the cd-rom and it goes straight to the compaq screen and the screen saying missing Ntldr

Go into your BIOS and change the boot order so that your CD-ROM boots first and your hard drive boots second. Then it should read the install disk and "Press any key to install" should come up.

When the Compaq logo comes up, it should say in a corner "Press [f key](may be F2, F8, or Del. I don't know) to enter BIOS/Setup". You then just poke around under the categories until you find boot order. Go into that and select the CD-ROM for boot device 1 and the hard drive as boot device 2.

no..not at all..goes to the compaq screen, then another screen that is black with a blinking _ and then the Ntldr is missing screen

Well, all I can suggest then is keep rebooting it and trying every single F key along with delete and see if that does anything. Be sure to reboot it and hold down the key as soon as you reboot it.

This is one thing I hate about forums: You can't physically help.
