Laptop keyboard

I have an Acer v5-571p. I took it apart to fix something (as I have done before) but this time I accidently snapped off a piece of the connector for the keyboard flex ribbon. I was able to get the ribbon back in by putting a piece of plastic in with the cable but only the space bar would work. I can't seem to get the cable in without the plastic as it seems as though it is too loose. Is there anyway for me to fix this?

I would need a pic to know. Ebay does have parts, but if this is what I'm thinking, the surfaced mounted connector you would have to pull the whole MOBO out, unsolder and solder a new connector. This takes some skill and a pen tip solder gun.
