Laptop LCD malfuction

The other day, I accidentally hit my laptop LCD with a bunch of objects... I'm not sure what exactly caused the damage - whether it was a magnet or just the impact, but I'm hoping its fixable. Since I don't know what the problem is, I haven't been able to try anything to fix it yet.

Is there any chance anyone could help me out? I'd greatly appreciate it!

I've attached a photo of what the damage looks like. The screen isn't physically broken (on the outside at least, I don't know about the inside, but I don't think it is)

So I've actually physically broken the screen? Is there any way to fix it, ie. go to a computer repair shop, order in a screen from the manufacturer (is it worth it?), or do I have to buy a new computer?

You could buy a monitor and connect it with a VGA cable. Then if you can get into Display Settings, change the main monitor to the new one.

That would be the best option if your laptop doesn't need to be taken around with you.

Thank you for that! I completely forgot that I could connect an external monitor. I had an old desktop monitor collecting dust and was able to connect it.

Thanks again!

Now that the immediate problem of me being able to use my computer has been fixed, I guess I need to look at the other issue...
