I have DELL laptop. The owner just checked his mail and after that the screen turns blue. Now there is no display on the LCD. But if it is connected to external monitor it works. Please provide solution to this problem. I know the computer is working because the sound comes. I think the problem is only with the display because it works when it is connected to external computer. I had tried to boot it on safe mode on LCD but it do not work on it. I had tried to do bios setup but there is not at all any display on the screen. It is black :(

Hmmm...

You could try booting (if possible), into the safemode. It seems that the user opened an attachment with a virus in it. You may have to refoermat the HDD in order to fix this. However, I will let others suggest more viable options ofr you for now.

I don't think it's a virus, it's more likely the backlight on the LCD is dead, the screen itslef is dead or possibly the signal cable is no longer connected

True

That's definitely an option. However, I would also consider the fact that he mentioned it happened when his friend was checking his mail. That resulted in a blue screen error, meaning that it the backlight could not have died. Just a thought.

Hi , I have a compaq m700 the backlight on the LCD is dead , how can I repair it , I think the powersuply for the backlight is dead .

Same problem... i think

I have a fairly new Dell Laptop (inspiron 5150), and tonight when the screen turned off due to inactivity and I returned to continue my work it would flash solid colors slowly.. the main ones.. blue, green, yellow, red, grey, black

The computer still works fine, as I am typing to you from it now.. just with a monitor hooked up...

So this leads me to my question... Any reason this happened and any quick fixes?... kinda sounds like im gonna have to call Dell tomarrow and wait for some parts

I figured I would try and get a response in here befor I start a new thread about the same topic.

Ok, just spent more time dealing with tech support than i ever care to again

the man I dealt with concluded its my LCD kit... I have my doubts because I cannot get a external monitor to work anymore

Can I disconnect the LCD and hook up the monitor to see if it makes any difference.. or is this going to cause a problem
