Some desktop LCD's do have a clear protective plastic cover that gives it the shiny appearance that a CRT has. Some like this effect while others would rather have the regular LCD appearance along with less reflection of light.
after a little googling it seems like the glassy feel is because it doesnt have glare filter intergrated or something. so it would be good surfing and adult site with my glasses and it reflects off it XD.
